Cold Chillin’ at Kyoryu

The leaves have changed and the weather is gradually getting colder. Fall has passed and winter is here. Mother nature… like whoa man! Far-fucking-out! Luckily it rarely ever snows out here, so it’s possible to skate year round, but it gets really windy. Strong wind always screws with me but when it’s biting cold that’ll pretty much ruin my day. That is probably a strange thing for somebody from Chicago to say but at least we had basements and garages to skate.
ごめん、今夜やる気がないので日本語訳はめちゃくちゃ簡単にしました。上記の部分は寒さと強風の不満だ。下記にまとめた。

After 8 years in Japan I finally skated Kyoryu, in eastern Osaka. Tim was kind enough to show me. That place is clearly his stomping ground, because he was killing it. I’m still a little baffled by the park because it serves no purpose functionally or aesthetically. From a design stand point it a complete failure but it just happens to be amazing for skateboarding. Kyoryu is much smaller than I had imagined and there is a bit of a vibe from the locals (or should I say yokels?), but it was fun. I’ll definitely be heading back. Here are few shots from our day. Cheers Tim!

    Locals, they rip!
Didn’t actually talk to us until we were leaving when one of them introduced himself as “Wenning, Brian Wenning”, haha.

Yeah, they were dicks. I’m pretty sure I heard that fellow in white mutter “gaijin no sticker wa iran” when Tim was passing out a few to his mates. Or should I say “trying to pass out a few”, because they just pretty much flat out refused to even touch them. That kind of pissed me off. Who refuses a fucking sticker? It’s okay though, they are welcome to their little park out in the boonies.
The guy doing the b/s smith however was friendly enough. I didn’t break out my camera until just before we left really, so I really didn’t get much.

Haha, I didn’t hear that. Should have replied with “It’s OK, I don’t want your Chinese stickers either!”.

The b/s smith guy was sound, he took stickers no questions asked (well, he asked questions after taking them but that’s OK). I think from now on my criteria for deciding if I like someone is whether or not they accept stickers.

I couldn’t quite make out what the dude said for sure, which is why I didn’t say anything. I didn’t want to make the same mistake as I did at Bug’s wedding! I’m doing my best to keep my foot out of my mouth.

Regardless, it came off pretty rude to me. It’s a fucking sticker! Even if you don’t really want it, you just take it. He looked at it as if you were handing him a used tissue.

Status began in 2010 as a simple way to share skate photos taken in Kansai, Japan. We now have three contributors producing bilingual content about skateboarding in Japan and elsewhere.

STATUSは2010年に神戸とその周辺のスケートフォトを共有する手段として始まった。 現在は三人でスケートボーディングに関係あることを二カ国語で書いている。
